About the Norfolk Mead
Set in the riverside village of Coltishall, The Norfolk Mead is a privately owned country house hotel with a long-standing reputation for warm, thoughtful hospitality.
While its setting and facilities place it among Norfolk’s most sought-after places to stay, it is the atmosphere that guests tend to remember most – calm, luxurious and genuinely welcoming.
The house dates back to the early 20th century and has evolved carefully over the years, preserving its original character while quietly adapting to modern expectations. Since opening as a hotel, The Norfolk Mead has grown into a destination in its own right, valued not only for its accommodation but also for its food, spa experiences and its ability to host memorable celebrations of all kinds.
At the heart of the hotel is a strong belief in service-led hospitality. Bedrooms are designed with comfort and aesthetics in mind rather, each individually finished to reflect the character of the building.
Guests often describe their stay as relaxed luxury – refined but never formal, attentive without being intrusive.
This approach has earned The Norfolk Mead continued recognition from guests and leading travel platforms, including awards and high ratings from trusted industry names, reflecting the care and consistency behind every stay.

Anna & James Holiday
Owners Anna and James both come from strong catering and hospitality backgrounds and first met while working on the Formula One circuit with McLaren, where they travelled the world catering for drivers, mechanics and support teams at the highest level.
Their combined experience across restaurants, hotels and large-scale international events laid the foundations for what would become The Norfolk Mead.
When Anna and James discovered The Norfolk Mead, they saw not just a hotel, but the potential to create a welcoming destination built around food, service and memorable experiences. Carefully restored and thoughtfully developed, The Norfolk Mead reflects their belief in relaxed luxury.
