Tapas and live music: The Norfolk Mead launches new Thursday night in its walled garden

Boutique Coltishall hotel brings sharing plates, live acoustic music and long summer evenings together in a new weekly event

There’s a new reason to look forward to Thursdays in the Norfolk Broads. The Norfolk Mead, the family-run boutique hotel in Coltishall, has launched the Thursday Tapas Club, a weekly evening of sharing plates and live acoustic music in its walled garden, running every Thursday from 5:30pm to 8:30pm from 23rd July.

As the golden hour light falls across the garden, guests can settle in with a menu of small plates designed for sharing, from hand chipped patatas bravas and charred Padrón peppers to king prawns in a creamy garlic and chilli sauce and crispy squid with saffron aioli, while a live acoustic performer provides the soundtrack to the evening. Those with room to spare can finish with dessert such as the hotel’s own warm Norfolk Mead chocolate brownie served with clotted cream.

“We wanted to create a night where good food, live music and catch-ups can all happen in the relaxed surroundings of our own walled garden,” said James Holliday, owner of The Norfolk Mead. “Thursday felt like the perfect evening for it. It’s that point in the week when everyone is ready to slow down, and there are few better places to do that than the garden as the sun goes down.”

The evening comes with a little treat too. Tables spending over £50 for two receive a complimentary bottle of house wine, with a cocktail alternative available for those who prefer.

The Thursday Tapas Club is the latest addition to a busy events calendar at The Norfolk Mead, which sits in eight acres of grounds beside the River Bure and has been run by the same family since 2013. The hotel’s upcoming programme also includes spa retreats, murder mystery evenings and festive celebrations through autumn and winter.

From Thursday 23rd July, the Thursday Tapas Club runs every Thursday from 5:30pm to 8:30pm in the walled garden at The Norfolk Mead, Coltishall. Tables can be booked by calling 01603 737 531 or emailing info@norfolkmead.co.uk.
