This winter, our Christmas wreath-making workshops return to The Norfolk Mead, and if last year taught us anything, it is that spaces on these afternoons and evenings get filled quickly. So consider this your friendly nudge for you and your friends.
A festive afternoon in the Norfolk countryside
Tucked beside the River Bure in the village of Coltishall, just north of Norwich, The Norfolk Mead does Christmas the way a family-run country house should. Log fires, twinkling trees, the smell of mulled wine drifting through the hallway. It is the sort of setting that makes a festive workshop feel like a proper occasion rather than an hour in a draughty village hall.
Your afternoon begins with a glass of mulled wine as you arrive, or a festive blood orange Mimosa if you have chosen a morning session. Then the talented team from Sadie’s Florist takes over, guiding you through the art of building your own Christmas wreath from scratch. Fresh foliage, berries, ribbons and all the trimmings are provided; you simply bring your imagination.
No experience needed. Some of our loveliest wreaths have come from guests who arrived insisting they were “not remotely crafty”. By the end of the session, everyone leaves with a handmade wreath they are genuinely proud of, ready for the front door, the mantelpiece or perhaps a very lucky friend.

Crafting is hungry work, which is why every workshop comes paired with something delicious.
Daytime guests sit down to our Christmas Afternoon Tea, a seasonal twist on the classic, served in true Norfolk Mead style. Evening guests tuck into a generous Festive Grazing Board piled with cheeses, cured meats and antipasti, perfect for sharing over a glass of your favourite and a good catch-up.
