There’s something rather special about The Norfolk Mead in December. The fires are lit, the house smells of woodsmoke and tasty aromas from the kitchen, and the grounds take on that still, frosted magic you only get at this time of year.
We’ve got a lot going on between now and the new year to help you feel festive and fill out your calendar so we thought we’d put it all in one place. Whether you’re organising the office party, looking for somewhere to hand over the cooking on Christmas Day, or simply want an excuse to spend an evening with people you like, there is something here for everyone.
Christmas Party Nights
Our party nights are always one of the highlights of December, and this year is no exception.
You’ll get a three-course meal built around festive favourites, a DJ to keep everyone on the dance floor, the bar open until midnight and the whole room dressed beautifully for the season. Arrival is from 7pm with carriages at midnight.
Three of our dates have already sold out, so if you’ve a particular evening in mind, it’s worth getting in touch sooner rather than later.

Christmas Wreath-Making
In our wreath-making workshops, you’ll be guided through by the amazing team from Sadie’s Florist, with a glass of mulled wine to start and a festive afternoon tea or grazing board to enjoy as you work. There are twenty places per session, so it stays relaxed rather than crowded, and you’ll go home with a wreath you’ve made yourself, which is rather more satisfying than buying one.

Christmas Afternoon Tea
Throughout December we’ll be serving a festive version of our afternoon tea, Monday to Saturday from 1pm to 4pm. All the usual sandwiches and scones, alongside a few seasonal additions.
Take it in our hotel restaurant or beside the fire in the lounge, and it’s particularly lovely with a glass of something sparkling if you’re in the mood.

The Three-Night Christmas Package
If the thought of cooking for twelve has rather lost its appeal, this is the one.
Make The Mead your home from the 24th to the 27th of December. You’ll arrive on Christmas Eve to a glass of prosecco and dinner in the restaurant, wake to a proper cooked breakfast, open presents at your own pace and then sit down to Christmas lunch. Boxing Day is for doing very little at all, with lunch in the restaurant and the rest of the day yours.
Between meals there are eight acres of frosted grounds to walk off the pudding, or a fire and a deep chair if walking feels like too much. And absolutely nothing to wash up!
From £1,475.00 per couple, with rooms and cottages to suit parties of different sizes.

Christmas Day and Boxing Day Lunch
If you’d rather be at home for the rest of it but would like someone else to handle the cooking on the day, you’re very welcome to join us for lunch.
Christmas Day lunch is £180.00 per person. Or keep the celebrations going with a more relaxed Boxing Day lunch at £85.00 per person.
Our Christmas and Boxing day menus are specially catered to give you that Christmas magic with delicious mince pies, Pork, Wild Boar & Pistachio Pâté, Norfolk Bronze Turkey with all the trimmings and more.

New Year’s Eve Dinner
For New Year’s Eve, we’re putting together an exclusive tapas-style sharing menu to see 2026 out in style, perfect for a table of people who’d rather pick at lots of delicious things than commit to one.

New Year’s Eve Party and Fireworks
And then there’s the big one.
From 8pm until 2am in the Garden Room, with substantial canapés and prosecco to start, dancing with our DJ for that feel-good end-of-year feeling, and beautiful fireworks over the house at midnight. It’s a proper send-off for the year and a rather good way to arrive into 2027.
